Numerous abandoned children live on Istanbul`s streets, Turkey.
They left their families or abandoned by the families both, main reason are poverty, imigration, violance in family and separated families etc. State is not able to help enough most of them. Social services are limited especially created new place to stay and rehabilitation.
All those kids are living on streets. They stay on empty buildings, atm units, hotels and restaurants ventilation holes or anywhere street as a shelter.
Using chemical drugs like glue and especially thinner sniffing, smoking are very common in the street children. Also begging from the people to survive.
They create their own social relations and rules. Younger ones get older. There is a primitive hierarchy between the powerfulls and the powerlesses. Violonce is a part of their lives but the violence they commit to themselves is the greatest. Wounds on their bodies are the proof for it.
Every year increasing number of abandoned children one of the major problem in big cities of Turkey. |
